Additions

Sue Burdick, a believer. Breast cancer survivor for 13 years - the breast cancer has returned to at least 3 lymph nodes, stage 4 cancer. Surgery is not an option. She is waiting for approval for Ibrance for treatment. (Sue L’s sister-in-law)

Ralph Freedman, a believer.  He has fluid build up around his heart.  His brother is driving him to San Diego to Scripps on Wednesday. The procedure is on Thursday, 24th and he will stay one night in hospital.  Please pray for safe travel and successful procedure.

Updates

Don Lepczyk   Don’s 6-hour surgery went well.  The surgeon was able to remove the tumor from the head of the pancreas and complete the Whipple procedure.  He’ll be in the hospital 5-7 days.  Wonderful answered prayers by all you prayer warriors.  (Sue L.)

Chris Edgar     Great news…total answers to prayer…and another answer to God’s awesome Problem-Solving Devices. This specialist surgeon we were referred to is one of just a few cordoma cancer specialists in the nation. He has done over 300 of these surgeries. Can get Chris into the 14-hour surgery mid-September. We will be in Houston for a one-month recovery, along with one week before and one week after. He plans to cut out all of the baseball size tumor along with the 3 little tail bone segments. He doesn’t think he will mess with any of the nerves. He does the surgery with 3 other specialist surgeons, a G.I. Surgeon, plastic surgeon, and one other surgeon. He has a great nurse team that really works to prevent infection (b/c of where the big cut will be). Once he removes it all, he MRI checks Chris every 3 months for a year to make sure nothing is growing back. He says his patients have long lives after this because this is not a cancer that spreads, it just grows back slow like a tumor if it is not all removed. No radiation or chemo.  Prayers now are that the surgeon gets it all removed during surgery, that there is no problem with the nerves, or the removal and replacement of the organs near it, and that Chris’ recovery is smooth and infection-free.  Thank you SO much for your prayers! Steve Swedberg is recovering nicely from his hip surgery. He was transported back to his hometown hospital for continued recovery and rehabilitation. Thank you for continuing to pray for him.  (Sherry’s brother-in-law)

Lisa Dean  (Irene's co-worker) Lisa had a lumpectomy on August 10 that was a success.  She is cancer-free!!  She will have to undergo 2 weeks of radiation, but in the meantime she is able to go back to work.  Thank you all for your prayers. We are rejoicing in God's grace and perfect will.

Military

Kaylee Johnson is having major female surgery Monday 8/21 in Baltimore. Please pray for a successful recovery. Please pray for her orders to come through on her next assignment/station. Pray for God's guidance and to use her skills to the max. She is interested in the Space Force position in LA.

Spiritual and Other Needs

Mark Vandernagel  Mark's blood work continues to show improvement. This means there is no progression of the Inclusive Myocystitis.  It will be a long time before he sees any improvement in his muscle strength.  I had the opportunity to give him the gospel again. (Daria)

Linda Russett  Linda is still undecided about scheduling back surgery. Issues include finances, post-operative care, pain management fees, etc.  Pray for God’s leading in all of the above.

Sunna Miller finally has her new remodeled bathroom!
