UBC Prayer Updates for February 16, 2023

Get Well

Additions

Sue Olsen.  Sue has been experiencing severe dizziness for the past several months.  Regular doctors have not been able to figure out what is causing it, so Don and Sue will be consulting a naturopathic specialist and a vestibular therapist.  Pray for an accurate diagnosis and successful treatment plan.  (Don Olsen's wife)

Chuck Zintech.  Chuck was experiencing abnormal headaches and decided to go to the hospital to get checked out on Wednesday, February 8th.  After CAT scans and MRI it was determined that he had a blood clot on his brain and they rushed him into emergency brain surgery.  They determined that his brain was still bleeding and rushed him into a second emergency surgery on Thursday, February 9th.  Once he came out of that surgery he was paralyzed on his right side, disoriented and agitated. They then put him in a medically induced coma.  After another 24 hours of observation they determined that there was still a brain bleed and performed another emergency surgery on Saturday, February 11th.  The Surgeon is confident that they have stopped the bleeding but Chuck is still in a medically induced coma so that he will get some rest and time for his brain to heal.  They anticipated that he will be in the coma for a while, knowing he will have a long recovery ahead of him. Unsure if Chuck is a believer but know that he grew up in the Catholic Church. (Michelle Dillard's good friend)

Kathy Tierney.  Kathy fell and broke her hip last Friday night and had surgery Saturday morning.  She is up moving around, and she said doing that and a little physical therapy made her feel like she climbed Mt. Everest.  (Jamie's aunt)

Travis Makar.  Travis has a non-operable brain tumor and white matter disease.  I see his wife, Lauren, at work.  He has vision problems and possibly macular degeneration so his vision is tunneled.  Lauren says he is depressed while she is trying to stay positive. She said she believes the Gospel booklet.  She has it at home but she says he is not interested.  (Daria)

Lisa Dean.  Lisa is undergoing Chemo treatments for cancer and it is affecting her work performance.  She is a coworker of Irene's at the Jail and a Jehovah's Witness.  Pray for opportunities for Irene to share the gospel with her. (Cahoons)

Updates

Joey Reilly.  Joey had surgery last week to put his dislocated knee back in place; he is still in the hospital and has started physical therapy.  Doctors are deciding when to proceed with his next surgery/ies to repair all the "L's"...ACL, MCL, etc.  Is in good spirits. (Brown's grandson)  

John Hadfield.  John had a 10-hour surgery on Friday, and now is up and about – great answered prayer. Going to keep him on the list for a while longer.   (Susie H's brother)

Jim Tierney.  Jim is doing well, walking around with a walker and going to physical therapy. Going to keep him on the list for a while longer.  (Jamie's dad)

Sunna Miller.  Sunna's orthopedic doctor said she should have a day surgery to open the area around her sciatic nerve.  She said no thank you -- she wants to see if it gets better on its own.  Will see doctor again in 6 weeks.  Her MS advocate is trying to help her with handicap improvements at her house. Pray my sis will follow through and doesn't fall again. (Daria)

David Allen.  David was taken to the hospital by ambulance February 7. He needed the ambulance O2 which was better than using the O2 tank in the car to go to the VA hospital. He ended up at Sunrise Hospital in case it was appendicitis. Turned out to be pneumonia in his lower right lung—near the appendix. He is still having trouble breathing and getting very little sleep as a result. Please pray that his lungs will heal enough to come home. (Su-Z's husband)

Jamie Vertrees.  I had an angiogram done on Monday.  They found no blockage, so no stents needed.  I have my theories on what may be causing the symptoms and will follow up with the cardiologist March 2nd, so hopefully we can figure it out. :)  I'm grateful to God for this outcome.  Thank you for your prayers.
